Many people have asked what they can do to help. Here's a simple, very supportive thing you can do: When sending email or calling Janette, talk about everyday life things and not about her health or your regret for her illness. The cancer and the potential negative consequences become more real to her when we talk or write to her about the cancer. She does want to be in contact with all of you, though she may not have the energy to reply. So, please write when you feel like it and we'll help her maintain the positive bubble she's creating around herself.

- On April 9, 2009 after a biopsy and a PET scan, Janette was diagnosed with lung cancer. The cancer is in many lympth nodes in her chest and lower neck, some lympth nodes around her lungs and a small mass inside the lung. The cancer also in some of her bones-- near the tailbone, lumbar, both sides of pelvis, both sides of colarbone and both cheeks. One of the affected lymph nodes is pressing on the nerve to the vocal cord and has caused vocal cord paralysis on her right side. [The cancer in the back is causing reflective pain in her groin when she moves that leg and some pain in her back--this is no longer true!] The cancer is inoperable and Janette is receiving radiation and chemotherapy to stop its spread and kill what's there.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are sick, but I think it is great that you are going to study swallows on 4/21. I think swallows are the coolest birds!

What a lovely idea. Now I will not have to ask you each time for an update on your treatments which get lost in senior moments shortly after you tell me. It is sure nice to have Cathy (Techno Nurd) around. Remember that I'm first in line for breakfast as soon as you are up to it. Friends a Castelio's ask about you.
ReplyDeleteHappy to be included in your list.......wanted to know if you got the pictures of Rene' as Jesus in the Passion play?...Barbara and Budd 's grandson was also Jesus at his school also......they both did great!!!!
